In mid-September, my English friend and colleague, David Hodson, OBE, MCIArb, of The International Family Law Group LLP, London, was asked to present to a group of private client lawyers in that city, on the financial elements of divorce and family breakdown in leading jurisdictions in South East Asia and Australasia namely, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
I was flattered when David asked me to review that part of his paper relating to New Zealand jurisprudence, and most grateful that he has very kindly permitted me to publish his entire paper on my website.
David Hodson is one of the world’s leading family lawyers and widely regarded for his innovation and savvy as a dispute resolution specialist, especially involving an international element or complex assets or issues. David is joint founder (2007) and senior partner of The International Family Law Group LLP (http://www.iflg.uk.com/). In June 2014 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his “Services to International Family Law”.
David’s list of achievements – academic and professional – are long and varied but include his work as author and editor of “The International Family Law Practice” published by Jordan, in its 4th edition and probably the leading textbook on international aspects of family law.
David’s paper can be read here.
